E-books are electronic books that you can access on a computer or mobile device.

Available e-book platforms:

ACCESS MEDICINE

This contains around 150 e-books in English from the publisher McGraw-Hill. Titles  include Harrisons’s Principles of Internal MedicineTintinalli's Emergency Medicine, Endocrine PhysiologyFitzpatrick's Color Atlas and Synopsis of Clinical DermatologyGanong's Review of Medical PhysiologyGoodman & Gilman's: The Pharmacological Basis of TherapeuticsJawetz, Melnick, & Adelberg's Medical MicrobiologyLaposata's Laboratory Medicine: Diagnosis of Disease in the Clinical LaboratorySherris Medical Microbiology.

EDRA

Collection of biomedical e-books published by the publisher Edra. These are texts adopted in the degree courses of Medicine and Surgery, Health Professions, Pharmacy and Biology. Here you will find the list, in alphabetical order by title, of the texts available so far.

Access methods: you can browse the e-books on the Edra platform by entering your institutional credentials (the ones you use to access your e-mail), without time limits or pages consulted. For each volume you can print / download the index and the first chapter. All titles are also searchable on BiblioUPO

MLOL

The MLOL platform contains over 48,000 multidisciplinary titles, including some course books. The list of purchased texts is available under "See all" and is constantly updated. Through the MLOL platform you can have 4 simultaneous loans for a duration of 14 days. All titles are also searchable on BiblioUPO

Access mode: to access MLOL you must use your IDEM GARR credentials, the ones you use to access your e-mail. To be enabled for digital lending you must first:

• create an Adobe ID: go to the website www.adobe.it and click on Login, at the top right

• install Adobe Digital Editions (on PC or Mac) or Blufire Reader  (on IPad, IPhone, IPod)

The software is free to download, but required to use the service. Adobe ID creation only needs to be done once. The software installation must be done only once, but on all the devices on which you want to read the e-book.

OVID

Two virology titles, 6th and 7th edition of Fields Virology.

How to access: the e-books are in ePub format and can be downloaded in PDF and printed chapter by chapter. The titles are also searchable on BiblioUPO. You can access it from the University network and remotely via VPN.

Access methods: the type of license is for 1 user and is valid throughout the University, authentication takes place by recognizing IP addresses and, remotely, via VPN; simultaneous logins are not allowed. You can download a limited number of pages to your device, specified in the details of each e-book.

UBIDICTIONARY

Dictionary platform which you can access at https://u.ubidictionary.com/dashboard/ within the University network or remotely via the Off-Campus or VPN.service.

On the home page you will find:

• on the left side of the screen the library with the available titles: click on the cover to consult the dictionaries;

• on the right side of the screen a button to register and use all the additional features of Ubidictionary (translation, vocabulary, social). To register you must enter your login and password of your choice. You must do this from a PC connected to the University network. Registration is not necessary simply to consult the dictionaries; this takes place automatically by recognizing the IP address. 

ZANICHELLI

Collection of 46 textbooks ranging from mathematics and biology to medicine and physics, available for digital loan from Piattaforma Zanichelli

Method of access: you can search the e-books in the BiblioUPO catalogue or you can consult the list of books available. In the second case:

  1. Click on the link to the e-book you are interested in
  2. Log on to the platform, selecting the name of the university and using your own login credentials: you will see a preview of the index and, in some cases, the first chapter
  3. You will be able to choose whether to consult the ebook on the browswer or on a mobile device. In the latter case, you must first download the app Locklizard Viewer which allows you to consult the text online at the first access, and then offline also. The app is available for Windows, macOS, iOS and Android operating systems.

Loans have a duration of 30 days, and cannot be returned early. The licence allows simultaneous access by 5 users.
