Databanks

Databases are electronic archives of resources that you can use to perform research on a given topic or to verify a bibliographic citation. These are the available databases:

Access Medicine

Resource from McGraw-Hill publisher that combines a large collection of referential texts for various sectors of medicine with a series of point-of-care tools and multimedia content.

Acland’s Video Atlas of Human Anatomy

Multimedia resource consisting of 5 volumes (The Upper Extremity, The Lower Extremity, The Trunk, The Head & Neck, The Internal Organs) with more than 300 rotational anatomy macro videos in 3D.

CINAHL Complete

Citation database produced by EBSCO that allows quick access to leading nursing journals, as well as Evidence-based Care Sheets and Quick Lessons. It includes indexes for more than 5,400 journals, contains approximately 5 million records and 1,400 journals in full text (starting from 1937). At the bottom of the page you will find a short guide to using CINAHL.

Cochrane Library

Medical and clinical database. At the bottom of the page you will find some tips on search methods.

JoVE Video Journal (versione Unlimited)

Multidisciplinary peer-reviewed video resource dedicated to the publication, in audiovisual as well as textual format, of the latest news relating to scientific research and teaching from the most important international institutions. We have access to all the videos (over 13,000) published in the JoVE Research and JoVE Education sections, with content ranging from life sciences to physical sciences.

Evidence-based information database created by EBSCO specifically for nurses. Includes nursing best practice guidelines, nursing programs, videos and images, nursing e-books. At the bottom of the page you will find a short guide to using Nursing Reference Center Plus.

Scopus

Bibliographic and citational database of the publisher Elsevier.

Ulrichsweb 

International repertory containing bibliographic data and information relating to over 300,000 periodicals, both printed and electronic, current and discontinued.

UpToDate

Wolters Kluwer publisher's resource of evidence-based clinical decision support, with content curated by a team of physicians, whose primary goal is to help healthcare professionals quickly make the best decisions for patient care. It covers 25 specialisations and includes over 36,000 images and 12,000 topics, for each of which the authors (and their reviewers), date of update and bibliography are indicated in detail. The contents are written entirely in English, but with the possibility of searching for pathologies, symptoms, procedures and drugs, also in other languages (including Italian). Access methods: from the University network at the link www.uptodate.com/online; remotely the resource is accessible via VPN, but we recommend that you register from a PC connected to the University network (also via VPN) and access remotely by logging in with your credentials in order to take advantage of all the features offered by the resource. To keep the account active, you must access UpToDate from the UPO network and log in at least once every 90 days. Failure to log in will temporarily inactivate your account which you can reactivate with a simple login from the UPO network.

 

Web Of Science

Clarivate Analytics bibliographic and citational database. From the platform, also access the Journal Citation Reports by selecting it from the Products drop-down menu at the top right.
