Professional Internship

During the clinical teaching phases, the student is required to acquire specific skills in the field of internal medicine, general surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, as well as medical-surgical specialties. For this purpose, the student must carry out professional training activities at some medical structures for a total number of at least 60 ECTS.

The clinical competence acquired with the professional training activities is subject to evaluation by the Teacher-Tutor and involves the acquisition of eligibility status which is recorded in the transcript booklet when the relevant exam is passed.

Before starting the professional internship activities, each student must:

• undergo medical checks (at the S.C Occupational Medicine department)

• attend and obtain the certificate of attendance of the High-Risk Health course (16 hours) including GENERAL TRAINING and SPECIFIC TRAINING in health and safety for equivalent workers (art. 37 of Legislative Decree 81/08).

Anyone who has already attended similar courses must send the certificate for approval to prevsic@uniupo.it.

In case of contact with COVID patients, the trainee is required to contact the Director of the facility.

Interruptions and suspensions of the internship must be promptly reported to tirocinio.med@uniupo.it.

As part of the 60 credits of professionalizing internship, starting from the 5th year, students will carry out internship activities enabling practice of the medical profession.

It is possible to modify, interrupt or suspend the internship activity.
