Internship/Thesis
Degree course Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology
The internship is preparatory to the final exam. The internship can be carried out in structures within the University and in structures outside the Departments of Health Sciences and Translational Medicine.
APPLYING FOR INTERNSHIP
-
students from the 2017-2018 cohort are only eligible for internship (internal and external) if they have passed all first and second year exams. (150 hours of internship)

students up to the 2016-2017 cohort will be able to start internal and external internship with a maximum of six exams owed between years I and II (90 CFU limit), including English Language (students who have already passed English Language will owe five exams). Apply for internship only if students have passed at least two workshops in the curriculum. (200 hours of internship)
Please note that students from cohorts prior to 2017-2018 who have already taken the lab must have already passed the exam in February 2020 in order to apply for the internship for thesis purposes.
PROCEDURE FOR OFF-SITE INTERNSHIP
1st semester: month of October – 2nd semester: March and July
It should be noted that for external internships, students must independently make contact with the institution / company even before complying with the access rule to initiate stipulation of an greement (if necessary). Once the access rule has been complied with, it is possible to define the Training Project.
STEP 1. Check admission rules for internship
STEP 2. Choose a location willing to accept you.
STEP 3. Activate an agreement. Send the Internship Application form to allegati.scuolamed@uniupo.it
The Teaching and Student Services Office will send this form to the Didactic Commission.
The Didactic Commission will evaluate the request with regard to the educational objectives that the student must achieve.
Once conformity been established, the Didactic Commission will propose the Academic Tutor, who will then act as supervisor of the thesis:
- The student starts the administrative procedure for activating the internship only at this point, with the Teaching and Student Services Office
- At the end of the internship, the student must fill in the external internship hours register and send it to allegati.scuolamed@uniupo.it to have them recorded in their student record booklet. It is important to send this as soon as possible and not wait until the last moment.
PROCEDURE FOR INTERNAL INTERNSHIP
1st semester: October
2nd semester: March
PLEASE NOTE:
- Agreements with teachers do not constitute preferential qualifications
- Those who have been assigned the thesis in the ranking CANNOT subsequently ask to carry out external internship activities.
STEP 1. Check internship admission rules
STEP 2. Read the research topics on Proposals for available internal internships
STEP 3. It is possible to select 3 options (by 28 March 2022) on: Procedure for selection of internal internship proposals
STEP 4. Pairing of teacher/student: as per regulations, the assignment of supervisors is made according to the cohort, academic credits and average of marks of each student. Preferences are respected where possible. Once all places are taken, further assignments couuld be made according to the affinity of the subject area indicated in the student’s preferences.
IN THE EVENT OF WITHDRAWAL, write to tirocinio.interno.biotec@uniupo.it .
STEP 5. Contact the relevant supervisor to agree on the start of the activities and fill in the "Internal internship form" (to be completed by all interns, not only those who graduate in the summer session).
STEP 6. At the end of the internship, fill in the thesis form / internal internship hours register and send a digital copy to allegati.scuolamed@uniupo.it

These must be sent as soon as possible, and not at the last moment.
